The Chinese Student Association is hosting a Chinese Moon Festival on Sept. 25.
The event is a celebration that occurs on the 15th day of the eighth month of China’s lunar calendar. The festival serves as a symbol of peace, and traditionally families from all over the world travel back to China to celebrate for a family reunion.
“This is my fourth year to spend the festival without my family,” said Chad Liu, president of the Chinese Student Association, “but I really enjoy spending it with my Harding family.”
Liu said his goal for the Chinese Moon Festival at Harding is to have more cultural exchange between Chinese and American students. The celebration will take place on Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the Charles White Cafeteria. Chinese food will be provided as well as some Chinese shows and games.
The event is open to anyone, and the cost is $1.99 with a Harding meal plan or $7.99 without.
