The American Studies Institute concluded its distinguished lecture series with David Barton on April 7. Barton heads WallBuilders, an organization aimed at educating people about the moral foundations of our country, promoting legislation reflecting the nation’s constitutional heritage, and encouraging Christian involvement in the civic arena. A best-selling author and expert in historical and constitutional issues, Barton serves as a consultant to state and federal legislators and has participated in several cases before the Supreme Court. He has also been involved in the development of social studies standards for numerous states and has helped produce history textbooks used in schools nationwide. Barton has received numerous awards including Who’s Who in Education, the Daughters of the American Revolution Medal of Honor and the George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Time magazine named Barton as one of America’s 25 most influential evangelicals.
