Students award $6K to charities

Thousands of students and hundreds of faculty and production crew members came together to perform Spring Sing 2016, “Retro-bution.” The show comprised eight different shows that featured a number of themes. After performances March 24-26, nine judges collaborated to announce the winners in individual categories and overall. Total, clubs awarded $6,000 to chosen charities. The results were as follows:

Music 3rd runner-up — Things One & Twosical: The Musical (Chi Sigma Alpha, Regina, Sigma Phi Mu and friends) 2nd runner-up — Delta Nu Moon (Delta Nu and friends) 1st runner-up — Ice, Ice Baby (TNT and Zeta Rho) WINNER — The Ameri-Can’t Dream (Gamma Sigma Phi, Pi Theta Phi and friends)

Staging 3rd runner-up — We’re All A Little Mad Here (Ju Go Ju, Ko Jo Kai and friends) 2nd runner-up — Peter Pan-Demonium (Delta Gamma Rho, Omega Phi and friends) 1st runner-up — The Ameri-Can’t Dream (Gamma Sigma Phi, Pi Theta Phi and friends) WINNER — Ice, Ice Baby (TNT and Zeta Rho)

John H. Ryan Sweepstakes Award

3rd runner-up — We’re All A Little Mad Here (Ju Go Ju, Ko Jo Kai and friends awarded a $600 donation to Friends for Life)

2nd runner-up — Things One & Twosical: The Musical (Chi Sigma Alpha, Regina, Sigma Phi Mu and friends awarded an $800 donation to Searcy Children’s Home)

1st runner-up — The Ameri-Can’t Dream (Gamma Sigma Phi, Pi Theta Phi and friends awarded a $1,000 donation to the Literacy Council of White County)

WINNER — Ice, Ice Baby (TNT and Zeta Rho awarded a $2,000 donation to Jacob’s Place via the Ty2 Foundation)

Four remaining club shows each received $400 for the following charities: Tantrums & Tiaras — Chi Omega Pi, Zeta Pi Zeta, Iota Chi, Shantih and friends for The Sunshine School Peter Pan-Demonium — Delta Gamma Rho, Omega Phi and friends for Kids First Gold Hearted — GATA, Chi Kappa Rho, Phi Kappa Delta and friends for Special Olympics Delta Nu Moon — Delta Nu and friends for CASA
