The music department's concert series will continue with pianist Tatiana R. Mann and violinist Cindy Wu Thursday, March 31. Mann and Wu will perform at 7 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium.
Mann has appeared as a soloist and recitalist across North America and Europe. Recent performances include “Rhapsody in Blue” with the Arkansas Symphony and various chamber music concerts throughout the country. She premiered “Speak No Evil” by E. McKinley at the American Composer’s Forum and performed “For Don” by M. Babbitt, with the composer in attendance, in celebration of his 90th birthday at Tanglewood’s Contemporary Music Festival. As the recipient of the Peggy Rockefeller Memorial Fellowship at Tanglewood, she has worked with James Levine, Dawn Upshaw, Yo-Yo Ma, Charles Rosen and Claude Frank. Mann and Wu have been performing a piano and violin duo together for two years.
As a soloist, chamber musician and educator, Wu has collaborated in concert with artists such as Teddy Abrams; Gary Graffman; Kim Kashkashian; Ida Kavafian; Midori; Thomas Quasthoff; Yuja Wang; and members of the Alban Berg, Brentano, Cleveland, Guarneri, Orion and Tokyo string quartets. She taught violin, chamber music and string pedagogy at the Thornton School of Music of the University of Southern California from 2010-2015 and is now the current artist in residence of the Da Camera Society in Los Angeles. She was awarded the Milka Violin Artist Prize from the Curtis Institute of Music and claimed third prize at the International Violin Competition of David Oistrakh.
