The Department of Theatre presented “The Eye of the Artist,” a two-part production April 14-16 and 21-23 in the Ulrey Performing Arts Center. Previously known as the Festival of One Acts, the production featured student-organized material from nine directors.
According to Assistant Professor of Theatre Britton Lynn, previous shows have been jumbled experiences for audience members because students chose one acts without consideration of other selections. Lynn said that each portion of this year’s show reflects on why we create art.
“This year, since students all selected and evaluated the material in relationship to a central theme, the evening of theatre was centered around one central idea,” Lynn said. “Hopefully it was a much more cohesive experience.”
Each director was responsible for selecting, coordinating, producing and staging about 25-30 minutes of material. Students have selected one acts or combinations of songs, poems, scenes and Scripture.
