Associate dean a finalist in Agents for Learning challenge

An Arkansas team of educators including Dr. Clara Carroll, an associate dean in the Cannon-Clary College of Education, was named one of 12 finalist teams in the Agents for Learning challenge facilitated by Learning Forward and the National Commission on Teaching & America’s Future. Each team travels to Chicago July 21-22 to present submissions to a panel of judges.

The Agents for Learning challenge is a nationwide competition designed to engage educator teams in advocating for the best use of federal funding for professional learning under the Every Student Succeeds Act. Teams made up of teachers, administrators or learning leaders each developed plans that described a comprehensive vision for effective professional learning for their states, identified existing needs and strategies to address them, and outlined roles and responsibilities for states, districts and individual educators to achieve their goals. Developing such plans are a part of NCTAF’s efforts to incorporate educator expertise into broader policy conversations.

In addition to Carroll, team members include Nancy Fancyboy of Beebe School District in Beebe, Lori Martin of Otter Creek Elementary in Little Rock, Leslie Sharp of Carnall Elementary in Fort Smith, and Deb Walter of Rogers New Tech High School in Rogers.
