Health care management MBA ranked top five

The University’s Master of Business Administration degree with a health care management concentration was ranked fifth in the “Top 20 Graduate Programs in Health Care Management in the South 2016” compiled by Health Care Management Degree Guide, an independent college search and rankings site.

Harding was the only Arkansas school listed on the regional ranking, which considers factors such as cost, accreditation, U.S. News and World Report rankings, number of degree options, and acceptance rate. According to Glen Metheny, chair of the graduate school of business, the program is currently expanding its emphasis on the health care management specialization by offering special tuition pricing to certain organizations.

“We are currently enrolling students that are Arkansas Hospital Executive Forum members or are employed by Arkansas Hospital Association members,” Metheny said. “We know a lot of people in the health care industry are interested in pursuing a master’s degree, but they can’t put aside jobs and families to go to school full time.”

Metheny said the program is working to enroll an exclusive AHEF/AHA online cohort — a group of students pursuing their MBA together over a two-to three-year time frame.

“It’s our hope to empower more people to pursue their MBA, particularly those already in this industry,” Metheny said. “The special pricing and flexible online schedule for this cohort is just another way we can show them it’s possible to get the degree.”

The AHEF/AHA cohort is expected to begin classes January 2017.
