Music department announces 2016-17 concert series

The Harding University department of music has announced its 2016-17 Arts and Life concert series. Throughout the school year, the series will feature six concerts.

The series includes performances from Don Ross, Tatiana Roitman Mann, Saint Louis Brass, David Payne, Women of the World, and Christ Brubeck’s Triple Play. All tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. Season tickets are available for $10.

Don Ross, Sept. 22 After studying composition, electronic music and sound recording at Toronto’s York University, Ross became the only person to twice win the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship.

Tatiana Roitman Mann, Oct. 11 Pianist Tatiana Roitman Mann has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician across North America and in Europe. She holds degrees from the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Manhattan School in New York, and the University of Minnesota.

Saint Louis Brass, Nov. 7 Founded in 1964, Saint Louis Brass is one of America’s longest standing brass quintets. The group has performed tours across the U.S. and in Sweden, Germany, Mexico and Japan.

David Payne, “An Evening with C.S. Lewis,” Feb. 6, 2017 Donald Payne’s performance in “An Evening with C.S. Lewis” brings audience members into the living room of the famous British author as he recalls the people and events that helped inspire his thoughts and shape his life.

Women of the World, Feb. 23, 2017 Women of the World is a Boston-based international vocal quartet from Japan, India, Italy and Haiti performing original and folk music with a contemporary twist.

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play, March 23, 2017 Bassist, trombonist and pianist Chris Brubeck, accompanied by versatile musicians Joel Brown and Peter Madcat Ruth, showcases a vast repertoire of Delta blues, Tin Pan Alley standards, New Orleans grooves, jazz gems, and incisive originals.
