93rd annual Bible Lectureship focuses on holiness

Harding University’s 93rd annual Bible Lectureship will be held on campus Sept. 25-28. The theme this year is “Holy, Holy, Holy: Living in the Presence of God.”

“When Isaiah caught a glimpse of the holiness of Almighty God, it changed his whole life,” said Dr. Dan Williams, vice president for church relations and Lectureship director.

Lectureship will provide more opportunities for its guests to worship, including morning praise sessions and a praise workshop. Williams is excited about the theme because it reflects the nature of God and the importance of worship.

“Holiness is such a fundamental concept,” Williams said. “We want people to regain an understanding of God’s transcendence and majesty. We live in a very unholy culture, and we are trying to reclaim holiness and the concept of holiness.”

Lectureship will feature eight student lecturers, including senior Bible and missions major Morgan Miller. Miller is from Memphis, Tennessee, and will be speaking in a women’s class on the discipline of rest and its conjunction with cultivating a relationship with Christ.

“Practicing Sabbath can be so influential to a university student, whose schedule, heart and mind are constantly revolving around school work and deadlines,” Miller said. “I see Sabbath as a time to intentionally sit in the presence of God, so I am hopeful that my lecture will connect really well with the theme.”

Miller said Lectureship is one of her favorite times of the year. She hopes Lectureship will be beneficial for participants to dive deeper into understanding what it means to live in the presence of God in their daily lives

“I love that we spend a few days as a University focusing so heavily on a spiritual topic,” Miller said. “It is such a high time of growth for students who take advantage of listening to the wisdom of the preachers and teachers that Harding brings to our campus.”

The University will welcome an estimated 2,000 guests to campus for Lectureship. Williams and the Lectureship committee have assembled a lineup of 90 speakers for this year’s program with approximately 130 classes. For more information about Lectureship, visit www.harding.edu/lectureship.
