Retiring art professor presents artwork in campus show

Stevens Art Gallery is hosting an exhibit by Dr. Faye Doran, professor of art, until Jan. 30. The showcase of Doran’s work is presented in honor of her retirement in May 2017.

Featuring more than 50 pieces of art, Doran’s display includes realistic renderings using materials such as colored pencil and oil pastels; illustrations created with ink spots and lines; and weavings utilizing fiber, metal and even a garden hose. Proceeds from the sales of her art will be contributed to church camp scholarships.

Doran career at Harding began in 1969.  She began teaching in 1973 and has taught 33 different courses for the University; she was responsible for starting the University’s interior design program in the 1980s.

The Stevens Art Gallery is offering extended gallery hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through the end of January.  Admission is free. For more Harding events, got to Harding.edu/calendar.
