Department of theatre presents student-directed one act festival

The Department of Theatre will present its annual one act festival “Seasons of Life” at 7 p.m. from March 23-25 and March 30- April 1 in the Ulrey Performing Arts Center. The festival features nine one-act plays directed by eight students as part of a degree requirement for theatre majors.

According to Britt Lynn, professor of theatre, the group of student directors works for most of the school year to create the festival — choosing the theme, selecting scripts, casting and producing each play.

“The scripts that the students have chosen all focus on the different challenges and quirks that people encounter at different stages in life,” Lynn said. “This festival hopes to explore how we age and how age affects the nature of our relationships.”

Dates, titles and show times for “Seasons of Life” are as follows:

Thursday, March 23 to Saturday, March 25, 7 p.m. “The Rainbow” directed by Kira Kulp “Blind Date” directed by Kira Kulp “His Return” directed by Sydney Mann “The Zoo Story” directed by Kara Treadwell “Act of Living” directed by Hayden Nooner

Thursday, March 30 to Saturday, April 1, 7 p.m. “Tradition” directed by Shana Struble “The Case of the Crushed Petunias” directed by Julianne Bigham “The Travelling Sisters” directed by Katherine Stinnett “A Long Trip” directed by Kennedy Priest
