Harding in top one-third of schools attracting National Merit Finalists

March 7, 2017 | Scholarships |

The National Merit Scholar Corporation annual report last week indicates that 13 National Merit Finalists enrolled as freshmen at Harding University for the 2016-17 school year, ranking Harding 109 in the 330 colleges recruiting National Merit Scholars. The University recruits more Scholars than any other private university in Arkansas and has the second-highest number of Scholars for all universities in the state.

In the last four years, Harding has enrolled more than 40 National Merit Finalists. To qualify for a National Merit Scholarship, students take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and must score in the top one percent of 1.6 million entrants.

“Our fall 2016 finalists could have chosen any of the nearly 4,000 colleges nationally, but after looking at all their choices, they selected Harding,” said Glenn Dillard, assistant vice president for enrollment management. “The quality of students selecting Harding is impressive. We are honored to have them here.”
