Students, alumni and friends of Harding University are coming together March 29-31 for the 45th annual Spring Sing. The musical variety show will feature more than 1,000 students involved in eight performances, plus 20 ensemble cast members and four hosts and hostesses accompanied by the Harding University Jazz Band.
According to Dr. Steven Frye, Spring Sing director for the past 24 years, this year’s theme “Heroes and Villains” depicts the constant conflict between the forces of good and evil, all in the spirit of good fun.
“Spring Sing 2018 is all about heroes and villains because, in life, there are true heroes and exciting myths, and there are true villains and dangerous legends,” Frye said. “Every day we get to make a choice. We can step up or step back. We can come to the dark side ... or we can walk into the light. It is our chance to be something greater."
More than 20 social clubs will participate in the club performances with themes like miners, elementary students, aliens, teeth, nuns and pilots. Each performance is judged and results are announced after Saturday night’s performance. The clubs compete for cash prizes to be donated in their name to local charities.
Show times are Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. ; Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. ; and Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. Tickets are $15 or $18 and may be purchased at www.hardingtickets.com or by calling 501-279-4255 . For more Harding events throughout the weekend visit www.harding.edu/springsing .
