Students award $6K to local charities

March 31, 2018 | Spring Sing | Thousands of students and hundreds of faculty and production crew members came together to perform Spring Sing 2018, “Heroes and Villains.” The show comprised eight different social club shows that featured a number of themes. After performances March 29-31, judges collaborated to announce the winners in individual categories and overall March 31. Total, clubs awarded $6,000 to chosen charities. Ryan Sweepstakes Award 3rd runner-up — Cut Loose: The Barbershop Tunes (Delta Gamma Rho, Omega Phi & friends awarded a $600 donation to Searcy Children’s Home.) 2nd runner-up — Going Home Plane & Simple (Chi Sigma Alpha, Regina, Sigma Phi Mu & friends awarded a $800 donation to Habitat for Humanity.) 1st runner-up — The Tooth, The Whole Tooth & Nothing But The Tooth (TNT, Zeta Rho & friends awarded a $1,000 donation to CASA) WINNER — Houston, We Have A Problem (Ju Go Ju, Ko Jo Kai, Sub T-16 & friends awarded a $2,000 donation to The Sunshine School.) Four remaining club shows each received $400 for the following charities: Snatched Away (Lambda Chi, Phi Kappa Delta & friends donated to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.) The Nuns are Back in Town (Delta Nu & friends donated to Kids First.) The Magical, Mysterious & Meddlesome Mission of McLarty Elementary (Chios, Iota Chi, Shantih, Zeta Pi Zeta & friends donated to Jacob’s Place.) Please Be Mine (Gamma Sigma Phi, Pi Theta Phi & friends donated to Child Safety Center.)
