Wind Ensemble to perform with acclaimed saxophonist

The Harding University Wind Ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the Administration Auditorium. Admission is free.

The wind instrument ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Mike Chance, is made up of more than 50 musicians performing on flutes, piccolos, clarinets, bass clarinets, oboes, bassoons, saxophones, trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, harp, piano and percussion.

The performance will feature a solo appearance by internationally acclaimed guest artist Dr. Andy Wen on the alto saxophone. He will perform New York composer Neil Flory’s “Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble” along with the Harding University Wind Ensemble.

Other works featured on the concert will include “Symphony in B-flat,” Movement 1 by Paul Fauchet, “Temperance” by Aaron Perrine, Movement 3 from Howard Hanson’s “Symphony no. 2” and a 2017 composition entitled “The Field Well” for ensemble by Nick Omiccioli and conducted by student conductor Tyler Parkridge.
