Russian String Orchestra returns for encore performance in Arts and Life Series

Oct. 22, 2019 | Arts & Life | Harding University will host the Russian String Orchestra Wednesday, Oct. 30 as part of the 2019-20 Arts and Life Performance Series. The event begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium and will include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 expertly played by Harding’s own Scott Carrell. Founded in 1991 under music director Misha Rachlevsky, the Russian String Orchestra delivers impassioned performances that linger in the soul long after the last note resonates. The Washington Post hailed that “From work to work, Rachlevsky drew from his players gleaming tone quality, finely nuanced timbres, carefully shaded textures and focused ensemble coordination...The vitality and expression the players poured into this work made it the jewel of the day.” The Rusian String Orchestra, a 14-member formation, has performed nearly 2,300 concerts in Moscow, North and South America, Europe and the Far East. They have received numerous awards including Critics Choice in London’s Gramophone, Critics Choice in The New York Times and Record of the Year award in Hong Kong. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Groups of five or more can purchase tickets for $5 each. For more information, visit harding.edu/artsandlife or call 501-279-4343.
