The University’s American Studies Institute will begin its distinguished lecture series with Brett Biggs. His presentation on capitalism and the free market is in conjunction with the Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration, which will be dedicating the Waldron Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business Friday, Sept. 8, 2016.

Biggs, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Wal-Mart, is responsible for accounting and control, corporate strategy and development, business planning and analysis, internal auditing, and several other key areas of the company. He previously served as CFO for two operating segments within the company before becoming the lead financial executive.

As senior vice president of international strategy and mergers and acquisitions, Biggs led the strategy and execution for Wal-Mart’s entry into Japan and India as well as acquisitions and partnerships in China, the U.K., Brazil and Central America. He also served as senior vice president of corporate finance, leading Wal-Mart’s treasury operations and capital markets functions, including managing global banking relationships. Biggs holds an MBA from Oklahoma State University and a B.B.A. in accounting from Harding. He is a board member for the Wal-Mart Foundation, NWA Cancer Challenge and MANA Nutritional Products.
