Arts and Life Performance Series to host gourmet Valentine’s dinner and jazz concert

Jan. 24, 2020 | Arts & Life |

The Music Department and Arts & Life Performance Series will host a Valentine’s dinner and concert Tuesday, Feb. 11. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. in Cone Chapel of the David B. Burks American Heritage Building followed by an Arts and Life Performance Series concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium.

Dinner will include a culinary duet of filet mignon and salmon with roasted potatoes, asparagus and a flourless chocolate cake and a fruit garnish for dessert. After dinner jazz singer Jaimee Paul will perform an evening of love songs with her husband, trumpeter Leif Shires. With a repertoire ranging from romantic jazz standards of the ’30s, and stretching to pop standards of the ’70s and today, Paul and her husband are excited about sharing musical “fun, love and happiness” with the Harding audience.

Paul has performed with Wynonna Judd and Kelly Clarkson and has developed a name for herself as a singer of standard popular songs and jazz. The Jazz Times said, “Paul is blessed with a glorious voice (indeed, there’s a significant evidence of [Aretha] Franklin’s raw majesty), one that deserves to travel under its own powerful steam.” Her debut album, “At Last,” reached number one on the iTunes jazz charts.

Tickets are $25 each ($50 per couple) and can be purchased at hardingtickets.com . For more information about the evening as well as other upcoming shows, visit harding.edu/concertseries or call 501-279-4343. For more Harding events, go to harding.edu/calendar .
