The third round of the Division II football playoffs is here, and the Bisons are heading back to Michigan! But before you hit the road, it’s time to talk about a game plan — not for the players, but for you, the dedicated fans. Here’s your guide to packing smart and staying cozy while cheering on the Bisons in frigid temperatures.
Layer like a champion
The Michigan weather report is calling for freezing temperatures, so layers are a must. A moisture-wicking base layer is a good foundation followed by an insulating layer like fleece or wool to trap body heat. Top it off with a wind- and water-resistant outer shell to shield you from those biting Michigan winds.
And don’t forget: Accessories are your friend when it comes to showing your school spirit! Pack your Bison beanies, scarves and gloves to keep warm. Pro tip: A pair of hand warmers slipped into your gloves or pockets can be a game-changer.
Boots, blankets and bleacher cushions
To keep you and your feet happy, choose insulated, waterproof boots paired with thick, wool socks. If you’re standing in the snow or on cold concrete for hours, you’ll need all the insulation you can get.
Bring a thick stadium blanket to drape over your lap or shoulders. One with a waterproof backing can keep any dampness at bay. Bleacher cushions are another underrated essential — a little extra padding goes a long way in keeping you comfortable during those nail-biting fourth quarters.
Road trip must-haves
The drive to Michigan is no small feat, so be sure to hit up these alumni-approved stops along the way.
Keep spirits high along the way and build a Bison-themed playlist to keep everyone pumped. Throw in some fight songs, classic rock and maybe even a few Christmas tunes to set the mood.
So pack your gear, bundle up and get ready to make some noise in Michigan. Let’s show them how the Harding Bisons and their fans weather any storm — literally!
