Harding University has elected alumnus Sean Evans, president and general counsel of Walton Enterprises, to its board of trustees. His appointment became effective Aug. 17, 2026.

“It is my pleasure to announce the election of Sean Evans to the board of trustees,” said Charles Ganus, chairman. “He has been a faithful supporter of Harding for many years as a member of the Carter College of Business Advisory Board as well as the Catalyst Group. Sean brings a wealth of legal and financial expertise to his role as trustee, along with a passion for the mission of Harding.”

As president and general counsel of Walton Enterprises, Evans leads a family office serving multiple generations of the Walton family. In that role, he oversees a multidisciplinary team providing strategic, legal and operational advisory and support across a variety of family entities.

“Sean Evans’ perspective and dedication will be a valuable addition to the board as we continue advancing Harding’s mission to transform learners for global impact,” said Mike Williams, president of Harding University. “His professional experience will be especially valuable as we navigate the increasingly complex landscape of higher education.”

Prior to joining Walton Enterprises, Evans was a partner at a regional law firm, where he led the corporate and tax practices for its Northwest Arkansas offices. He began his legal career as a transactional attorney in the Dallas offices of Jones Day and Andrews Kurth.

Evans earned a bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in Bible from Harding University in 2001, a juris doctorate from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and a Master of Laws in taxation from New York University School of Law. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas. Evans and his wife, Rachel ('00), live in Bentonville, Arkansas, with their three children.
