On Aug. 14, 2026, the Harding University College of Pharmacy gathered to celebrate a foundational tradition: the White Coat Ceremony for our newest cohort. This momentous event formally marks the beginning of their professional journey into a lifetime of learning and service as a pharmacist.
The proceedings featured inspiring words and blessings from leaders across our campus and the broader state network. Josh Brown, Ph.D., assistant dean for student affairs, served as emcee for the event and welcomed everyone to the ceremony. Michael McGalliard, Sc.D., PT, COMT, associate provost of Health Sciences, provided the invocation. Michael Williams, Ed.D., president of Harding University, graciously welcomed the attendees to the University. Tyler Staten, Pharm.D., MBA, a proud alumnus from the Class of 2014, delivered the keynote address to the incoming students. John Vinson, Pharm.D., chief executive officer of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association, officially welcomed the class to the pharmacy community. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Arkansas Pharmacists Association for their generous sponsorship and support of the ceremony. Ellen Jones, Pharm.D., MA, BCACP, associate professor of pharmacy practice, presented the class as they received their white coats from Kwame Yeboah, Ph.D., MPhil., M.P.H., and Rodney Richmond, Pharm.D., M.S., BCGP, FASCP, chairs of the Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice, respectively. Rayanne Story, Pharm.D., associate dean for experiential education, administered the Oath of a Pharmacist. During this pivotal moment, students pledged to prioritize the welfare of humanity, respect differences to advance health equity, and embrace changes that improve patient care. The program concluded with a benediction led by Bryce Phillips, a student in the Class of 2029.
This year's cohort is a vibrant group of future pharmacists. These dedicated individuals hail from all over, bringing unique perspectives from hometowns across Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. We are incredibly proud of this exceptional group and look forward to watching them grow into skilled practitioners who will ultimately help people live healthier, better lives.
