Harding University’s Carter College of Business is launching the Carter Fellows Program, a highly selective experience designed to identify and develop some of the University’s most promising future business leaders.
“Business education is changing, and Harding is embracing that change by building on its tradition of academic excellence,” said President Mike Williams. “Our new dean and executive dean leadership model, together with the Carter Fellows Program, reflect a growing commitment to connecting classroom learning with real-world experience and industry relationships. We want students to move beyond simply becoming smarter to becoming wiser; developing the character, judgment and leadership skills to apply what they know in meaningful ways. This effort is central to Harding’s dedication to developing the whole person and preparing graduates for lives of inspired purpose, service and impact.”
The program will be led by Brett Biggs, executive dean of Carter College and former CFO of Walmart Inc., and will combine rigorous business preparation with exceptional access to senior executives, individual mentoring, real-world business experiences, career development, and the integration of Christian faith and business leadership.
Carter Fellows will interact with CEOs, CFOs, entrepreneurs and other accomplished business leaders through mentoring, small-group activities, executive roundtables, company visits and other experiences created specifically for them. The program will emphasize financial fluency, communication, decision-making, leadership and the skills that distinguish high-performing young professionals in today’s evolving business landscape.
The opportunity will be open to students with at least 60 hours of academic credit who demonstrate strong academic performance, character and leadership. The opportunity will also extend to prospective Harding students. Exceptional high school seniors who demonstrate strong character, academic performance and leadership potential may be offered a future place in the Carter Fellows Program, contingent upon continued strong performance at Harding.
A small inaugural Carter Fellows cohort will begin in Spring 2027, with a full rollout of the program in Fall 2027.
