Carr College of Nursing offers free child health screening

Carr College of Nursing is offering free well-child health screenings in the Swaid Center for Health Sciences on Sept. 21 and 28 and Oct. 5, 12, 17 and 26. Appointments will be scheduled between 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The well-child clinic is led by Assistant Professor Nona Lacy, and experienced nursing teachers and students will complete the screenings. The Carr College of Nursing has been offering free health screenings for 38 years in schools and health departments and for the HIPPY and Headstart programs.

Under the supervision of nursing professors, students use playful techniques for the child to enjoy the screening process. The screenings are for children ages 2-10 and provide information needed for entry into preschool and kindergarten programs.

The child screenings are free to the community and include a complete check-up for all body systems, and vision and hearing screenings and urine tests are also offered.
