C.S. Lewis scholar, Lewis’ stepson to speak at Harding University

The American Studies Institute at Harding University will feature noted C.S. Lewis scholar Devin Brown and a panel discussion with Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis, for the second presentation of its 2018-19 Distinguished Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 in Benson Auditorium. The presentation is part of the Harding campus read of “Mere Christianity.”

Brown, a Lilly Scholar and professor of English at Asbury University, has extensive knowledge and experience with the works of Lewis. In addition to his 40 years of teaching and researching, Brown has published 11 books and more than 50 articles, essays, scripts, poetry and more on the writings of Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Gresham, an actor, biographer and producer, will participate in a panel discussion following the lecture. He is the co-producer of the film adaptations of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, and is the author of "Lenten Lands: My Childhood with Joy Davidman and C.S. Lewis" and "Jack’s Life: The Life Story of C.S. Lewis." Gresham was portrayed in the C.S. Lewis biographical film, “Shadowlands.”

The event is free admission and open to the public. It will be streamed live at streaming.harding.edu .
