Returning and first-year students flooded campus this weekend eager to start a new year at Harding. The first official move-in day for students was Thursday, Aug. 20.
Beniot Lacoss, a freshman computer science major, has lived in England for the past 16 years. His oldest sibling, Marie-Pierre, who is currently a junior nursing major at Harding, helped sway his decision to come to Harding.
“I wanted to go to a Christian school, and Marie-Pierre strongly recommended it, so I checked it out,” Lacoss said. “I really liked it, and everyone was friendly, so I decided to go for it. I’m hoping to make lots of friends and have fun while getting a great education.”
Connecticut resident and freshman Melani Michaels hasn’t chosen a major just yet, but she’s leaning toward a major in elementary education. She is looking forward to meeting all of her professors and classmates.
“My sister went to Harding. When I got older, I learned more about the school, and I liked what I learned,” Michaels said. “The whole college experience is not what I’m used too, but I’m ready to dive in head first.”
Freshman Caidyn Ward, originally from Minnesota, is excited for classes to start. She is a chemistry major with plans to pursue premed.
“I went to a devo last night, which made me really excited to get spiritually involved here,” Ward said.
“I can’t wait to form close relationships with others and to really get involved at a campus with God at the center,” Arkansas resident and Freshman Brittany McDonald said.
Classes start Monday, Aug. 24, kicking off the 2015 fall semester.
