We are hosting choirs from seven high schools for the fifteenth annual Christian Academy Choral Festival. A final concert will be presented in Benson Auditorium Sunday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
The festival will include nearly 300 participants from Central Arkansas Christian School, Clarksville Christian School, Goodpasture Christian School, Harding Academy, Mars Hill Bible School, Oklahoma Christian Academy and Southwest Christian Academy.
Each group will perform a set of musical selections on their own before concluding the evening with a combined ensemble. Repertoire for the combined numbers includes “O Clap Your Hands,” “Ubi caritas,” “In Meeting We Are Blessed,” “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal” and “Show Me, Lord.”
“This is a highlight event for many of these student visitors,” said Dr. Cliff Ganus III, professor of music and director of choral activities at Harding University. “It’s a chance to travel together on the road. It’s an opportunity not only to sing for other choirs, but also to join with nearly 300 other voices in a wonderful musical experience. We are glad we can host this event, and we hope that many will come and enjoy the evening concert.”
Harding assistant professor of music Dr. Susan Shirel will serve as the guest conductor for the performance. For more information call 501-279-4343.
