Fall semester concluded with recognition ceremonies

Harding University will conclude the fall semester with its annual fall commencement and ROTC commissioning ceremonies.

Harding University’s fall commencement will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 in Benson Auditorium celebrating the accomplishments of more than 400 students.

Members of this semester’s graduating class represent 11 countries including Brazil, the Bahamas, Canada, China, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Serbia and Venezuela, as well as 36 states.

Eighteen different degrees will be conferred from the College of Allied Health, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Bible and Ministry, Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration, Cannon-Clary College of Education, Carr College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, College of Sciences, and the Honors College.

The speaker will be Harding alumnus Andy Goodman, who was recently named president of Arkansas’ Independent Colleges and Universities. He previously served as legislative director for Gov. Asa Hutchinson as well as chief of staff to Senate President Pro Tempore Jim Hendren during the 2019 Regular Session of the 92nd General Assembly and during the 90th and 91st General Assemblies.

One cadet from the Harding University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Bison Detachment will be commissioned as a second lieutenant during a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 in the Reynolds Recital Hall. Chaplain Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Miller will be the guest speaker for the ceremony.

Cadet Timothy Wright, upon commissioning as an active duty second lieutenant in the United States Army, is reporting to Fort Lee, Virginia, to attend the Army Ordnance School.

Harding’s ROTC program partners with Arkansas State University at Beebe’s A-State Red Wolf Battalion to recruit, retain, educate and develop senior ROTC cadets. With a focus on leadership and management, cadets gain leadership skills and participate in various training events and classes encompassing rappelling, marksmanship, fitness and military history. A-State and Harding are working together to train and prepare future officers for success as they begin their careers serving the U.S. Army while leading in the civilian sector.
