Kerry Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in computer information systems from Harding and has worked as a software engineer, primarily at ArcBest Technologies in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Most recently, he participated in a multi-year project at ArcBest (Vaux Innovation) that is revolutionizing the shipping industry. He is credited with a patent for a system and method of automated cross-dock operations. He is a member of WestArk Church of Christ in Fort Smith. He and his wife, Dena Harrell (’94), have two children, Abbey (’20) and Adam.
How have you been involved in your community?
I am a servant to the congregation of the WestArk Church of Christ where I quietly work behind the scenes to accomplish God's purposes. I have taught elementary student and adult classes and work with different ministries.
Who were your major influences during your time at Harding?
Tim Baird was instrumental in assisting me in being hired at ArcBest Technologies. Tim Baird, Steve Baber and Coach Scott Ragsdale taught me how to solve hard problems and think. They are great Christian examples.
How are you living your Inspired Purpose?
I found computer programming early in my life and wanted to make that my vocation. I work to encourage all those I encounter and spread the joy of being a Christ follower.
What makes your field rewarding?
I love creating systems to solve problems to make other's work efficient and enjoyable.
How do you get to serve God and others through the work that you do?
I serve God and others by using my technical abilities and work ethic to accomplish tasks for different ministries that bless others to God's glory.
What else should we know about you?
I have worked over the past 35 years to recruit and hire 64 Harding students to work at ArcBest Technologies as full-time employees and summer interns. More than 30 of these former students are currently employed at ArcBest Technologies.
